昔、私が学生の頃、ユースホステルという格安の宿泊所があちこちにありました（現在でも数は激減しましたが存在します）。そこでは夕食後に「ミーティング」という会合が毎日開かれていました。ちょうど上の写真のようなものです。しかし私は一度も出たことがありませんでした。強制的にミーティングに参加させられるユースホステルもありましたが、そのような場所ではなんだかんだと言い訳して出ませんでした。なぜか。他人との交流が鬱陶しいためです。
私はバイクで一人旅行をしていました。朝食をとってすぐバイクに飛び乗り、昼食は毎日ラーメンライス、午後4時くらいにユースホステルに入って風呂に入って、汚くなった服を洗って、夕食時間になったらすぐ食べて寝る。一日中バイクに乗って疲れていましたし、旅の感動は寝る間際の地図のチェックだけで十分でした。他人と話して疲れたくはなかった。
ユースホステルは旅行のときだけです。ですがシェアハウスに入れば、あちこちに他人がたむろしていて、常に他人の目を気にしなければなりません。便所も流しも他人と共用になります。不都合があれば、下宿ならそこの主人に訴えればいいのですが、シェアハウスなら誰に訴えればいいのでしょう。私の持っているアパートでも近所トラブルは起きます。壁を隔てているだけのアパートでもそうなのですから、生活空間を共有しているシェアハウスならその頻度と深刻さはアパートを上回るはずです。
私は高校時代から親元を離れて下宿していました。大学に入ったときに親は下宿を勧めましたが、私はどんな安いところでもいいからアパートに住みたかった（実際に住んだところは風呂なし、汲取り和式便所の築40年のボロアパートでした。そこに就職後も含めて7年間いた）。どんなボロアパートでも、玄関を開ければ自分の空間。他人の目を気にする必要はない。流しもトイレも好きなときに使える。下宿とは大違いの恵まれた空間でした。
自分の経験を振り返れば、もっと安いワンルームがたくさんあるのに、女性専用だからといって賃料の高いシェアハウスを選ぶ人が多いとは思えない。だから私にとって、シェアハウス投資はあり得ない。
今シェアハウスが大きな社会問題として報道されています。借りた側は貸した銀行のせいにしようと裁判を起こす構えですが、もし貸した銀行側に申込書などの不正な書き換えがあったとしても、第一の責任は借りた側にあります。身の程をわきまえず何億円もの金を動かそうとしたのですから。
くれぐれも自分の身の丈を考えた投資をしましょう。金額を聞いて恐怖を覚える、その感性（常識）を忘れないようにしましょう。私もまた物件を購入するときには身の丈にあった物件を購入するようにします。
